There’s something extra romantic about a lakeside wedding. The calm of the water, the way the light hits just right, and that grounding feeling you get when you’re surrounded by nature. Add in a story full of family history and love, and you’ve got real magic. And that’s exactly what Ellah and Jake’s wedding on Lake Bemidji was — pure magic. 

A Lakeside Wedding Ceremony Full of Meaning

Ellah and Jake were married at Jake’s grandparents’ cabin, a spot that already held years of memories. It wasn’t just a pretty lakeside backdrop (though let’s be honest, it was stunning). This was the exact shoreline where Jake’s great-grandparents once celebrated their own wedding, and Ellah and Jake exchanged their vows on the very same date. 

Like, are you kidding me?! The legacy, the intention, the sweetness… all of it gave me goosebumps.

The morning started slowly, no rush or stress, just time to soak it all in. Jake stood at the ceremony site, hands clasped, heart racing, waiting to see his bride for the first time. And when Ellah finally came into view? His reaction was EVERYTHING!

They exchanged vows in front of the most gorgeous arch of whimsical, colorful florals. Against the soft blues of the lake and sky, it was effortless, elegant, and so them.

Wedding Reception at Bemidji Town and Country Club

For the reception, Ellah and Jake chose the Bemidji Town and Country Club, and it was the perfect choice for them! Instead of going with a tented reception or a hotel ballroom, they wanted something classy with a view. And this spot? Nailed it.

The whole place has wall-to-wall windows that open right up to Lake Bemidji, so the water literally becomes part of your backdrop all evening. For smaller weddings, especially, it’s such a gem. Plus, from a photographer’s perspective, the photo ops here are endless. The rolling green golf course, and, of course, those dreamy lake backdrops!!

As the night rolled on, glasses clinked, laughter carried through the room, and the dance floor stayed FULL. It was one of those nights where you just knew everyone was so dang happy to be there.
