Hello, wonderful parents-to-be! You have heard of the Fresh 48 session and want to know more about how to plan for it and make it happen? You’ve come to the right place! Let’s get into all the details on capturing your most special fresh 48 pictures, and look at some cute baby pics along the way!
Fresh 48 photography is all about capturing the tender moments within the first 48 hours of your baby’s life. Unlike traditional newborn photos, these are more raw, unposed snapshots that beautifully preserve the initial magic of your little one’s arrival when they are still just SO tiny.
It’s all about embracing the authenticity and pure emotion of this special time. Your baby will change so much in the first days and weeks of their life that I PROMISE you will be shocked when you look back at the fresh 48 pictures and wonder HOW could they have been so small?!
Fresh 48 photos have a unique charm. They’re captured in a documentary style, often using natural light to bring out the genuine beauty of these early moments. There’s an element of spontaneity that makes these pictures truly one-of-a-kind.
This photoshoot usually takes place in your birthing facility, capturing the feeling and magic of the new arrival in a way that frequently goes by not immortalized. And it’s understandable!! How can you take out your phone to take pictures if your mind and your hands are busy getting to know the tiny baby that has just entered your life?
I remember a sense of surreal calm enveloped me as I held our baby boy close for those magical hours. 💖 Every tiny twitch and gentle breath felt like a miracle; it was almost too astonishing to believe he was truly ours!
Your natural environment is the perfect backdrop. Whether it’s your hospital room or the cozy space you’ve prepared at home, it’s where your story unfolds.
Keep things simple. Your newborn is the star of the show, so opt for light, neutral-colored clothing. Soft fabrics like cotton or linen work beautifully.
I know you packed your hospital bag with great care, taking all the million things that are necessary to make your birth and the days after as comfortable as possible, I sure did! As necessary as all of that is, consider dedicating a section of your room for it and leaving the immediate space around your bed and crib relatively clutter-free.
All that said, embrace your Nest! 😀 I know how different and difficult each birth can be, so don’t worry if your surroundings show just that. Capturing your environment as real as it can possibly be will be part of the magic to look back on.
There are SO many firsts to be captured, so time is of the essence! First moments with your partner, first baths, first yawns, first time meeting siblings, and the first time your partner gets to spend with the baby.
Fresh 48 sessions are best scheduled for the first two days after birth, usually the second morning or day after the birth. This ensures we capture those incredibly tender first moments and both you and the baby have had time to get in the photo-ready mindset.
I’d suggest going for a morning session starting somewhere between 9 a.m. and noon to take advantage of the morning light. Your baby will most likely also be as happy for the shoot as possible!
These first days are so full of important moments they slip by you like glitter, so beautiful, so many, dazzling you completely. It’s impossible to capture them all in your memory, so the fresh 48 pictures will be a precious treasure to have forever.
The beauty of Fresh 48 lies in its candidness. Simply be yourselves, and let your love for your little one shine through. Authentic moments make for the most cherished memories.
Remember, this session is all about you and your little one. It’s about capturing the love, tenderness, and awe that fills the room. So, snuggle, cuddle, and let your hearts speak volumes. We will also capture your little one just being there, with all their little toes and wrinkles!
There’s really no script for Fresh 48 pictures. Whatever happens during the session, even if it’s your baby’s first big blowout – we can just clean them up and continue!
