Fun Spring Engagement Photos in Minnesota

Sydney and David’s session was everything I love about spring engagement photos in Minnesota. Between the blooming crab trees, the golden light in the field, and the fact that we got to shoot at a location that meant so much to the couple, this one had my heart from start to finish!

Sydney and David invited me to their home for their engagement session, and I’m not exaggerating when I say this place felt like a little slice of heaven. The property used to belong to Sydney’s grandmother, so it was already full of memories and love. We planned the session for May to catch the trees in full bloom (and, oh my goodness, they delivered!). Their flowering crab trees created the dreamiest pink and white backdrop, and I honestly could have stayed there forever.

Sydney & David’s Romantic Spring Engagement Photos

There’s something extra special about choosing a meaningful location for your engagement photos. Whether it’s your own backyard, your family’s cabin, or a park you love to walk through together, shooting somewhere personal brings a whole new level of emotion and comfort. Sydney and David’s session felt so them, from walking through tall pines to laughing in the open field, every corner of the property told a piece of their story. 🥹

They also decided to bring their fave board game to the session. David actually made the cribbage board they were playing on. How cute and creative is that?! Capturing them in their element, doing something they love, made for the most genuine and joy-filled photos.

Their Sweet Pup, Meaningful Details, and Spring Vibes Galore

Any session that includes a pup is an automatic win in my book!! Sydney and David’s dog totally stole the show a few times.

We explored all the best spots on their land, from the flowering trees to the tall pines and the open green field where the light hit just right. I especially loved the moments with Sydney in her green dress, twirling in the field. The green-on-green with that warm spring light? GORGEOUS. If you’re planning your own spring engagement photos, don’t sleep on those golden hour moments, because they’re seriously a chef’s kiss.

Choosing the Right Location for Your Spring Engagement Photos

Not every couple has a location picked out, and that’s totally okay! When that happens, I love chatting about the kind of “vibe” you want for your session. Are you drawn to the beach or lakeside views? Do you love that rustic pine forest look? Maybe you’re more into downtown architecture or want to run barefoot through a wide open field. Whatever your vision may be, I’ll help you find the perfect spot that suits your style and personality.

Because here’s the thing, your engagement session should feel like you. Whether it’s full of laughter, soft romantic moments, or a little bit of both (like Sydney and David’s!), I’m here to guide you every step of the way. From helping you pick the right outfits to choosing a location that feels just right, we’ll create an experience that’s effortless, fun, and totally true to your love story.
