Shannon and Jay’s wedding day was the perfect example of what happens when a couple knows exactly who they are and finds a venue that matches it completely. These two are big outdoors people through and through, but they also wanted something modern, clean, and timeless for their day. So when they found Catalyst by Nature Link tucked into the Brainerd Lakes Area just outside Nisswa, MN, it was basically love at first sight.
This property is stunning from every single angle, and the way it blends sleek, modern architecture with total immersion in nature is honestly unlike anywhere else.
Why Catalyst by Nature Link Was the One
Lake views right outside the window. Towering pines surrounding every path. Indoor and outdoor ceremony options, so you’re never stressing about the weather. Two gorgeous getting-ready suites with huge windows and their own patio access. On-site lodging so the whole crew can stay together. And all of it is just minutes from downtown Nisswa, with the rest of the Brainerd Lakes Area right at your fingertips.
For Shannon and Jay, it checked every single box. They wanted a modern, elegant space, but still deeply connected to the outdoors they love so much. Catalyst gave them both, and the result was a day that felt effortlessly, completely them.
Getting Ready
The morning kicked off in those dreamy getting-ready suites, and the natural light there was stunning! Jay got ready with his dad, while down the hall, Shannon’s bridesmaids were popping champagne in matching blue pajamas. The energy was pure joy from minute one, and you could just feel that this day was going to be a good one.
Outdoor Ceremony at the Catalyst
Shannon and Jay’s wedding ceremony took place in Catalyst’s outdoor ceremony space, and it was perfection. Surrounded by towering pines with dappled light filtering through, it felt intimate and grounded in a way that honestly suited Shannon and Jay so well. A simple wooden arch dressed in white florals framed the whole thing.
The couple chose to skip the first look and see each other for the first time as she walked down the aisle. Watching Jay’s face as Shannon came into view, walking through those tall pines on her dad’s arm, was so precious, and witnessing emotion like this is exactly why I love my job!!
Portraits All Over the Property
We wandered from the pines down toward the lake, caught golden-hour light, and then made our way up this incredible staircase leading to the modern, glass-walled event center, glowing against the evening sky. Every single backdrop felt different, and it was stunning through and through! Shannon and Jay were so easy and fun in front of the camera, dancing and laughing their way through every single shot.
The Reception at Lakeview Hall
Lakeview Hall for reception did not disappoint! Long tables dressed in white linens, soft candlelight everywhere, and delicate floral accents in blue and white scattered down the length of the room.
The champagne tower moment was an iconic one (is there anything more satisfying to photograph, truly?), and then came the first dance, with Shannon and Jay swaying together while their loved ones cheered them on from every direction. By the time we got to cake cutting, complete with one more sneaky kiss, the whole room was full of pure, unfiltered joy.
A Full-Circle Kind of Day
Shannon and Jay actually had their engagement session at Catalyst by Nature Link too, and it was the very first time they ever saw their wedding venue in person. I cannot get over how sentimental that is. Getting to watch them fall in love with this space months before their wedding, and then come back to actually get married in it? Absolute chills.
