Can we just take a moment? Because this one has been living rent-free in my head since the day it happened.
Emily and Grant’s January wedding in Bemidji, MN, was one of those days that genuinely had everything. It was 12 degrees outside (with a windchill pushing negative 30, because northern Minnesota doesn’t mess around in January), and somehow, somehowww, it was one of the most stunning, sun-drenched, magical days I’ve ever had the privilege of documenting.
But okay, I have to start with what I am probably the most excited about, because I’ve been waiting to share these… their studio wedding photos in my studio!

A huge part of Emily and Grant’s portrait session took place right here — in my studio. My husband literally renovated one of the walls specifically for their wedding, and I genuinely could not be more proud of how it turned out. Getting to use my own space to create these images? That meant the world to me in a way I don’t totally have words for.
And listen, when I say Emily and Grant are gems of humans, I mean it! They are two of the most stunning, warm, genuinely wonderful people to be in front of a camera, and photographing them in that clean, bright, timeless space felt like a dream. The vibe was romantic and editorial all at once. Emily’s ballgown with the lace gloves, Grant in his classic black tux and bow tie, their sweet golden retriever snuggled in between them… I meannnn. COME ON. Every single frame felt like it belonged in a magazine!
And those detail shots! From vow books, the lace heels, the ring box, pearl jewelry, cufflinks, every little detail Emily chose was so intentional and so refined. She had an incredible eye, and it showed in every single thing.

Despite the cold that was January in Bemidji, this wedding party was not afraid of it. We headed outside for portraits around downtown, and the architecture (especially the Beltrami County Courthouse) added this incredible depth and texture to the images. Snow-covered steps, brick, and clean winter light? That combination is genuinely unmatched. And the dip kiss on the courthouse steps with the whole crew going wild behind them was perfection!

Their church ceremony was exactly what you’d hope for when a couple this grounded and faith-centered gets married. Candlelit aisles, warmth, meaning. It set the tone for everything that followed.

The ballroom at SouthShore Hotel overlooking Lake Bemidji is genuinely dreamy, especially in winter. Floor-to-ceiling windows framing a completely frozen lake? The combination of warmth and elegance inside against the quiet, icy stillness outside was breathtaking. The design was classic and refined with tall white floral centerpieces, gold-rimmed charger plates, twinkle lights, and candlelight everywhere. An espresso martini tower for the wedding party (yes, really, and yes, iconic), plus a three-tier cake cutting.
And then their first dance.
As Emily and Grant stepped onto the dance floor, the song that began to play wasn’t just any recording. Emily had pre-recorded herself singing their first dance song just for Grant, just for that moment. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room, including mine. That is the kind of love and intentionality that you simply cannot plan or manufacture. It just is. And I feel so, so honored to have been there to capture it.
Emily and Grant, thank you for trusting me with your day, for being the most wonderful humans, and for letting me use my studio to create something I’ll be proud of forever. You two are absolute gems, and I cannot wait to watch your love story unfold. 🤍
